*Tina Knowles was a booked guest on the fourth hour of the “Today” show this morning to show off the Dereon fashion line she shares with her daughter, Beyonce.

What “Today” hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford didn’t know is that Beyonce herself would be one of the models showing off the collection.

Fresh from the block party dance line outside of her mama-in-law’s house, Bey strolled out as the last model “Sarah,” causing Hoda to scream and toss her note cards into the air.

*Reach Out and Read of Greater New York presented its 2010 Literacy champion awards to bestselling author James Patterson, recipient of the coveted 2010 Children’s Choice Book Awards’ Author of the Year, and Greg Schumann, vice president and group publisher, The Parenting Group, Parenting magazine’s Mom Congress on Education and Learning.

People StyleWatch editor and event chair Susan Kaufman made the presentations to the literacy giants for their contributions to children’s literacy at Reach Out and Read of Greater New York’s annual benefit and auction Monday, May 16, 2011 at Bridgewaters, atop the Fulton Market Building in the South Street Seaport.

The rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of some 200 guests in attendance including Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford.  Adding to the luminosity of the crowd was the always bubbly Hoda Kotb, co-host, fourth hour of Today, correspondent, Dateline NBC, who returned as Mistress of Ceremonies.

Kotb started the evening off on an upbeat note rocking out to “Come and Get Your Love” on her iPod that she shared on mic to the delight of some 200 attendees to the tune of $200,000 which was raised during the live auction presided over by ace auctioneer Robin Lundberg.  The highest ticket item was the chance to name a character in a future James Patterson novel which went for $15,000.

Traci Lester, executive director, Reach Out and Read of Greater New York, jumpstarted the exciting evening by thanking her guests for braving the wind and rain to attend the fundraising party and add to the success of the benefit in support of early childhood literacy.

Lester also acknowledged and thanked the event supporters, generous donors, her staff and volunteers in attendance including the many pediatricians from the many health centers and hospitals in the region that came out to support the organization which helps them provide free books and early literacy guidance to children 6 months through 5 years old in low-income and underserved communities.

Reach Out and Read of Greater New York distribute books to over a quarter of a million children annually at 180 Reach Out and Read clinical locations throughout New York City, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties.  Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based, national nonprofit organization that prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

Reach Out and Read currently serves one-third of the most impoverished children in the U.S. The Reach Out and Read model is endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the program has one of the strongest records of research support of any primary care intervention.  This year, Reach Out and Read’s 27,000 volunteer doctors and nurse practitioners will provide 6.4 million new books to 3.9 million children at 4,654 healthcare locations in all 50 states.  (Photos by Lori Heddinger)

‘Today’ Producer Denies ‘NY Daily News’ Story about Hoda Kotb

*NBC has denied a story in today’s New York Daily News that claims Hoda Kotb, co-host of “Today’s” fourth hour, has been dispatched to London to help rejuvenate the morning show’s Olympics coverage in the midst of plummeting ratings.

[SUBSCRIBE TO EURWEB's RSS FEED]

The paper cited “a network insider” who said Kotb was supposed to be going on vacation during “Today’s” two-week Olympic reporting, but was called in to help out with hosting on Thursday after the show’s pre-Olympics broadcast failed to match the ratings of ABC’s rival show “Good Morning America.”

The source went on to explain that network executives practically “begged” Hoda to fly over, adding “they’re just shoehorning her into the show to help bring it alive.”

“Absolute nonsense. That’s a garbage story,” said “Today’s” executive producer Jim Bell of the Daily News article while appearing on  SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Radio. “Anybody who watches the show knows that we’ve been running a thing with Kathie Lee and Hoda for weeks talking about why Hoda should go to the Olympics. So I have no idea. It was pathetic reporting.”

The co-host of the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” has signed with CAA for representation.  She had previously been with the smaller New York-based N.S. Bienstock.

Kotb began hosting the 10 a.m. hour of “Today” when it debuted in Sept. 2007, and she currently hosts alongside Kathie Lee Gifford. Kotb has also been a “Dateline NBC” correspondent since April 1998.

She was recently summoned to London to help with “Today‘s” coverage from the Summer Olympics.

*It looks like Hoda Kotb may be trying to bow out of NBC’s new albatross known as the “Today” show.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the fourth-hour co-host, who has anchored alongside Kathie Lee Gifford since 2007, will see her contract expire this fall and is reportedly taking meetings for other job possibilities.

However, a source close to the situation tells the magazine that it seems unlikely that Kotb will actually leave.

“Hoda loves her job at the ‘Today’ show and adores everyone she works with on the show. Her contract is coming up and she’s just expanding relationships and having coffee with a few people.”

Today - Season 61
The news comes less than two months after reported tension on the set between Kotb and Gifford after the latter wanted to move the fourth hour to Los Angeles so she could be closer to her family.

The news also comes on the heels of “Today’s” Matt Lauer getting bashed in the press, which included rumors that Anderson Cooper may replace him.

*“Today” (fourth hour) co-anchor Hoda Kotb is single again.

Just over a year ago, the TV personality was calling her boyfriend, lawyer Jay Blumenkoph, “the real thing.” Apparently he wasn’t, but it hasn’t stopped her from getting back out there and continuing the search.

“You know what, I was with someone for two years,” Kotb, 48, tells PEOPLE. “Now I’m getting back in the groove. It’s really fun again.”

Kotb’s love life, a popular on-air talking point between Kotb and co-anchor Kathie Lee Gifford, says she’s in a good place and focused on the future.

“I heard Anderson Cooper’s mom [Gloria Vanderbilt] say this, and I’ll never forget it: ‘I always believe my next great love is around the corner.’ And I tell you, when you think about that – there’s something coming around,” says Kotb.

“Just keep your eyes open. I’ve just started dating again, and it’s really been great.”

*The New York Post is reporting that Hoda Kotb, who co-hosts the fourth hour of NBC’s “Today” with Kathie Lee Gifford, is on ABC’s short list to replace Joy Behar on ABC’s “The View.”

The network is reportedly “very interested” in signing Kotb, 48. Behar is leaving the show in August.

“The View” is undergoing a major cast shake-up following the departure of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who exited earlier this month, Behar, and Barbara Walters, who is retiring next May. The show has also been criticized for the upcoming addition of Jenny McCarthy — particularly because of her polarizing views on vaccinations.

However, it’s unclear if Kotb would be open to making the move. Entertainment Weekly reported back in April that she was exploring other job opportunities as her contract nears its fall expiration date.

“Hoda loves her job at ‘Today’ and she’s very happy laughing and scratching with Kathie Lee every day,” a source told the newspaper. A rep from ABC also denied the report saying, “there’s absolutely zero truth to this whatsoever.”

*”Today” co-host Hoda Kotb accidentally showed her phone number on-air last week while she was trying to demonstrate the new Samsung smartwatch…and within seconds, all hell broke loose.

Her phone immediately blew up with phone calls and text messages from viewers, with at least one person texting her a picture of “his junk.”

At a New York Fashion Week presentation recently, Kotb told the New York Post that she has changed her number. She also gave the newspaper a glimpse of some of the 2,000 texts she received, saying that she hoped none were porn.

“There was only one porn I saw,” Kotb said. “Someone had to text his junk because that’s what people do.”

Hoda Kotb attends Glamour’s 23rd annual Women of the Year awards on November 11, 2013 in New York City

*There was a report Tuesday that “Today” show co-host Hoda Kotb “had rejected a compelling deal” to join ABC’s “The View,” opting to stay with the NBC morning show’s fourth hour.

Well, this was news to “View” producers Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie.

“Bill and I have never called her. We have never met her. We have never offered her a compelling deal,” Walters said on the show this morning, refuting the story posted by Capital New York.

“I like her a lot,” Walters continued, before gesturing to her co-hosts and saying, “We are not offering any of you a compelling deal either.”

Capital New York reported that ABC News hoped to put her on ‘The View,’ and also make her an intricate part of the network, but that sources confirmed she was happiest at NBC News, where she’s been since her “Dateline” debut in 1998.

Walters couldn’t even pronounce Hoda’s last name correctly while denying the report this morning. New co-host Jenny McCarthy said Kotb wouldn’t like hosting “The View” anyway, because “we only have water in our cups.” (Kotb and her “Today” co-host Kathie Lee Gifford are famous for sipping wine during their broadcasts.)
